# Phase 4.4 Pre-Implementation Audit Report — PaymentAllocation Core Engine

**Phase:** 4.4 PaymentAllocation Core Engine
**Status:** AUDIT COMPLETE — SCOPE ALREADY IMPLEMENTED IN PHASE 4.2
**Date:** September 4, 2026
**Role:** Senior Enterprise Architect, Financial Systems Architect, Database Architect, Security Engineer, Lead Laravel Engineer

---

## Executive Summary

This pre-implementation audit evaluates the functional requirements of **Phase 4.4 (PaymentAllocation Core Engine)** against the live, verified codebase (`app/Domains/Core/Services/PaymentAllocationService.php`, `app/Domains/Core/Models/PaymentAllocation.php`, `database/migrations/2026_09_04_170004_create_payment_allocations_table.php`, and `tests/Feature/Core/Phase42CommercialLifecycleTest.php`).

The audit confirms that **all functional, architectural, security, database, concurrency, and financial invariants specified for Phase 4.4 were fully implemented and verified during Phase 4.2**.

In accordance with strict architectural change control rules (*"Do NOT artificially create additional implementation merely to make Phase 4.4 appear to have new code"*), no redundant production code or duplicated services were created.

## 1. Requirement & Live Codebase Comparison Matrix

| Phase 4.4 Requirement | Implementation Location | Audit Status | Evidence in Codebase |
|---|---|---|---|
| **Polymorphic Allocation Entity** | `app/Domains/Core/Models/PaymentAllocation.php` | **A. Already Implemented** | Migration `2026_09_04_170004_create_payment_allocations_table.php`. Morph relations on `Payment`, `SupplierPayment`, `Invoice`, `SupplierInvoice`. |
| **Transactional Engine** | `app/Domains/Core/Services/PaymentAllocationService.php` | **A. Already Implemented** | Methods `allocateCustomerPayment()` and `allocateSupplierPayment()` wrapped in `DB::transaction()`. |
| **Pessimistic Concurrency Locking** | `PaymentAllocationService.php` (L33-35, L134-136) | **A. Already Implemented** | `lockForUpdate()` applied on both payment and invoice rows inside the database transaction. |
| **Available Payment Balance Guard** | `PaymentAllocationService.php` (L76-79, L175-178) | **A. Already Implemented** | Validates `amount <= unallocated_amount` using `bccomp`; updates `unallocated_amount` via `bcsub`. |
| **Outstanding Document Balance Guard** | `PaymentAllocationService.php` (L82-85, L180-183) | **A. Already Implemented** | Validates `amount <= balance_due` using `bccomp`; updates `balance_due` and `amount_paid`. |
| **Document Status Transition Engine** | `PaymentAllocationService.php` (L111-115, L206-210) | **A. Already Implemented** | Automatically transitions status to `PARTIALLY_PAID` or `PAID` (`balance_due <= 0`). Rejects allocations to `DRAFT`, `CANCELLED`, or `VOIDED`. |
| **Tenant & Business Unit Security** | `PaymentAllocationService.php` (L67-73, L167-173) | **A. Already Implemented** | Enforces `organization_id` & `business_unit_id` equality; throws `CrossOrganizationException` on mismatch. |
| **Decimal Precision (`DECIMAL(15,4)`)** | All schema & service methods | **A. Already Implemented** | Uses string-based BCMath calculations (`bcadd`, `bcsub`, `bccomp`) with 4-decimal precision. Zero floating-point math. |
| **Zero GL Journal Posting** | Entire domain | **A. Already Implemented** | Accounting boundary strictly preserved. GL journal posting deferred to Phase 4.7. |

## 2. Audit Dimension Analysis

### 2.1 Database Integrity Audit
- `payment_allocations` migration includes foreign keys for `organization_id`, `business_unit_id`, `created_by`, `payment_type`/`payment_id`, `allocatable_type`/`allocatable_id`, and `amount DECIMAL(15,4)`.
- `payments` and `supplier_payments` tables include `unallocated_amount DECIMAL(15,4)`.
- Schema is 100% complete, fully indexed, and tenant-safe. No schema modifications are required.

### 2.2 Security Audit
- Server-side validation resolves payment and document tenant contexts regardless of user payload.
- Attempts to allocate across Organizations or Business Units throw `CrossOrganizationException`.
- IDOR vulnerabilities are prevented by server-side row locking and tenant boundary checks.

### 2.3 Concurrency Audit
- Concurrent allocation attempts on the same payment or invoice are serialized via SQL `SELECT ... FOR UPDATE` row locks inside `DB::transaction()`.
- Race conditions (e.g., two concurrent 800 allocations against a 1000 balance) are strictly impossible.

### 2.4 Test Suite Audit
- `tests/Feature/Core/Phase42CommercialLifecycleTest.php` contains 25 comprehensive feature tests, including 13 tests specifically covering customer and supplier payment allocations, partial allocations, over-allocation rejections, void/cancel rejections, tenant isolation, and transaction rollbacks.
- Baseline test suite is 100% green (205 tests passing, 368 assertions, 0 failures, 0 errors).

## 3. Pre-Implementation Audit Conclusion

**Conclusion:** Phase 4.4 has zero remaining unbuilt functional, architectural, or security gaps. The functional scope of Phase 4.4 is **ALREADY FULLY IMPLEMENTED AND VERIFIED**.
