# TANRAIL ONE — Vision & Scope

## 1. Business Problem
TANRAIL Investments Limited operates multiple diverse businesses (Restaurant, Catering, and potentially Water, Transport, etc.). Operating separate software systems for each business unit creates data silos, fragmented reporting, duplicated administrative effort, and complex executive oversight.

## 2. Platform Objective
To build a single, unified enterprise software platform (TANRAIL ONE) that centrally manages shared business functions (Core) while seamlessly supporting distinct operational requirements for each business unit (Extensions).

## 3. Long-Term Vision
TANRAIL ONE will act as the digital backbone of TANRAIL Investments Limited, providing a single source of truth for financial, operational, and performance data across all current and future enterprises.

## 4. Current Scope
The initial implementation phase focuses on:
- **Core Platform**: Establishing the multi-tenant-like business unit architecture, central authentication, authorization, and master data management.
- **Restaurant Operations**: Table management, kitchen operations, POS interface, and menu management.
- **Catering Operations**: Event planning, custom packages, catering-specific order management, and costing.
- **Shared Financials & Inventory**: Consolidated inventory, procurement, sales, invoicing, and expenses.

## 5. Future Scope
Subsequent phases will include:
- Water Production and Distribution
- Transport and Fleet Management
- Equipment Rental
- Manufacturing
- Advanced Analytics and AI Forecasting

## 6. Out-of-Scope (Initial Phases)
- Complex payroll processing (unless integrated with a specialized 3rd party HR system).
- B2C E-commerce storefronts (the platform acts as an ERP/Backend, not necessarily the consumer-facing website initially).

## 7. Target Users
- **Executives / Directors**: Consolidated dashboard, cross-business financial reports.
- **Business Unit Managers**: BU-specific operations, branch-level reporting.
- **Accountants**: Centralized invoicing, expense tracking, and ledgers.
- **Operational Staff**: Cashiers, Kitchen Staff, Delivery Drivers, Event Coordinators.

## 8. Business-Unit Concept
The system treats the Organization as the root entity. Under the Organization are Business Units (BUs). Every transaction, user, and asset belongs to or is accessible via specific Business Unit scopes. This ensures data isolation operationally, but allows consolidation financially.

## 9. Core Architectural Principles
- **Shared Core + Reusable Capabilities + Business-Specific Extensions**
- Single Login / Central Authentication.
- Executive Consolidated View.
- Configurable rather than hardcoded.

## 10. Success Criteria
- A user can log in once and seamlessly switch between Restaurant and Catering (if permitted) without re-authenticating.
- An executive can view a single dashboard showing total daily revenue across all active Business Units.
- The development team can add a new "Water" business unit without rewriting the Authentication, Inventory, or Sales modules.
- Complete traceability of every financial transaction to its originating Business Unit and Branch.

## 11. Clarification of Terms
- **Platform**: The entirety of TANRAIL ONE.
- **Business Unit (BU)**: A distinct commercial operation (e.g., Restaurant, Catering).
- **Module**: A logical grouping of technical functionality (e.g., Inventory Module).
- **Capability**: A business function the system provides (e.g., Procurement).
- **Business-specific Extension**: A specialized capability only relevant to one BU (e.g., Restaurant Table Management).
